Classroom Project Display

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the contests is to allow students and instructors an opportunity to showcase all the great work being done inside the classroom each year.  It also enables more students to be a part of the state conference. The event’s purpose is to showcase our students'  classroom projects and handiwork.  Encourage your students to enter the display so we can show the public the craftsmanship that exists in the state's career technical classrooms. 

 

ELIGIBILITY

The contest is open to both high school and postsecondary active SkillsUSA members.  There is no limit to how many projects can be submitted from each school or student.  Displays will be entered in two categories  Individual  Projects and Group Projects.

 

SCOPE OF THE CONTEST

  1. All project entries must include a 3 Ring Notebook with the following enclosed information:

    1. Name of school

    2. Name of instructor

    3. Name of student or group leader of the project (Only the group leaders name will be called out during the awards ceremony.  All team members will receive a medal on stage and  should be present for pictures)

    4. Learning Objective of the project

    5. Chronological description of the project as it was developed, complete with problems encountered. 

    6. A summary of the outcomes of the project. (one page please)

Pictures are not required but are preferred. 

  1. Projects must fit within a 6’x6’ area and requires no special accommodations. 

  2. Projects may be self standing or can be placed on a standard 3’ x 6’ table draped table (please make requests for tables via email to the state director by the March 25th  Registration Deadline) mlaurent@alsde.edu

  3. No commercial display boards please.

  4. Displays may consist of; but, are not limited to the following:  models, blueprints, posters, mechanical assemblies, wooden cabinets, automotive parts, electrical models.  (no electrical outlets will be provided)

  5. 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners will be announced for both Individual and team entries.

 

PROCEDURES FOR SETUP

Each contestant's badge will have a contestant “Letter” on the back.  Please attach the "Letter” [portion only to the Display.  A map of the contest area will be provided with the instructor’s registration packet.  (displays that are not removed by the time announced will be disposed of by the BJCC maintenance department)
